Fuel Savers Like Moletech Don't Work. I've Tried Them All

Gas savers don't work.

I hate paying high gas prices and over the last two years I have been on a mission to find a fuel saving device for my pickup truck that really works.  I wanted an inexpensive device that would help me get better Ford F-150 truck fuel mileage and save me a few bucks at the pump.

I must say that my mission has cost me dearly, over $1400 so far that I could have used to buy gas. I tried almost all of the products advertised to save gas such as the Moletech or M-Tech Fuel Saver that I ordered from the airline Sky Mall catalog for $300 plus shipping.

The Moletech fuel saver did not work at all and I was told that I had kept it too long to return.

I checked my fuel mileage very regularly, on the same commute to work over the same exact terrain going the same speed every day for over a month and it did nothing but make me $300 poorer.

Next I tried two products that were called "Fuel Conditioning Magnets". Each clamped on to the fuel line in different spots and was supposed to change the molecular properties of the fuel passing through the line and help it burn easier by aligning the molecules. Add about $120 more to the tally for the two devices that did not work at all.

Next I tried a product called the HAFC or hydrogen assisted fuel cell. I ordered the parts from a guy who was a licensed dealer and installed them according to the plans he gave me. Total cost for the canisters, wires, manual was $450. It did nothing.

Next I tried to build a hydrogen fuel cell from plans on the internet. The concept was the same as the hydrogen assisted fuel cell above but was supposed to produce more hydrogen. Basically you make a small amount of hydrogen in a container, using leftover electricity from your car's generator.

Total cost for the plans and parts, $125. It did not work.

I decided to try some things that my mechanic recommended, such as switching to spark plugs that have two electrodes and help burn more fuel.

I added these plus a high flow air filter from K&N and installed a larger sized exhaust system from the manifold all the way to the tailpipe. I also had him install new spark plug wires and a new distributor cap and rotor. I did notice about one mile per gallon difference.

Total cost for all the fuel saving measures? $1425.00 Having the knowledge to help others avoid wasting that money, priceless perhaps?

Update: This Hub was written before I purchased my new truck, an Chevy Silverado. You can read about some things I did to get better gas mileage in that truck here: Improving Chevy Truck Gas Mileage

Amen to that :)

Unfortunately, nobody listens to the voice of reason. Looks like we value only our own mistakes, and even those by far not always :)

Fords are notorious for not liking standard fuel savings devices, infact they are notorious for sticking to the factory designed in fuel economy.

All the products listed in this page is completely accurate. But there 3 products that i know of that do in fact work. A Hydrogen generator that is "PROPERLY" built, not wire and the water 4 gas nonsense. Fitchfuel Catalyst and HHO Tek's Platinum Fuel Saver. Of the 3 the PFS is superior IMO, but if you can manipulate an engine computer you can see pretty incredible results from Hydrogen.
