Cell phone boosters such as those made by Wilson and Digital antenna claim to boost your cell phone signal as well as help you receive calls better. Do cell phone boosters really work? The answer is yes, in most situations. There may be certain places where no cell phone signal will ever be available, such as in a deep canyon, but in other places where the signal is on the fringe of the available network a booster can help you get the call through. In the past, when cell phones came in bag form, towers were not as plentiful as they were today. In order for them to work they operated on a robust three full watts of power and usually included an outside magnetic mount antenna as an accessory.

The limit for cell phone output is still three watts but to save power and make phones smaller most use well less than one half of one watt.
